Pre-trip Inspection

Reduce anxiety about Pre-Trip Inspection testing by showing a simulation of the test.  Each video uses a simulated Pre-Trip Inspection Test to illustrate what a driver is required to know and demonstrate according to federal requirements.

A good Pre-Trip Inspection is the best safe guard against mechanical breakdowns. A couple of minutes spent before a route can save money and - more importantly - save lives.  By knowing what to check and why, a driver becomes an important member of the maintenance team.

The Pre-Trip Inspections for Conventional and Transit Buses include three different air brake system inspections:

  • Dual Air System
  • Manual Modulated Air System                                                                    
  • Automatic Actuated Air System

In each of the air brake system inspections, the following tests are demonstrated:

  • Governor Cut-Out.
  • Applied Air Leak.
  • Governor Cut-In  Low Air Warning.
  • Static Air Leak.
  • Emergency Stopping System.
